Museum Market in Bodrum, Turkey

Once the ancient capital of Caria, Bodrum (then Halicarnassus) was the birthplace of the father of history, Herodotus, and hosted one of the seven wonders of the ancient world, the Mausoleum of Halicarnassus. Nowadays, the modern city of Bodrum is steeped in its ancient past and ruins can be found through out.
However, one place you may not be expecting to find some of its cultural heritage is in an modern supermarket. Dubbed the "museum market," patrons can visit a 3rd century rock-cut tomb inside a modern CarreFourSA Super.
The tomb was discovered during the construction of the market and, rather than relocating the tomb, it was instead integrated as a permanent display after a rescue excavation by the Bodrum Museum of Underwater Antiquities. Robbed during antiquity, a set of six sarcophagi were discovered with only interred human remains and ceramic sherds as their contents.
